We’re on the road to net zero, with the ambition of getting there by the end of March 2031 for our own operations and end of March 2041 for our full value chain. And we know that by joining customers and suppliers together on a shared sustainability journey, we’ll all get there faster.
We’ve been committed to change since setting our first carbon reduction target in 1992. Since 2017, we’ve reduced the carbon emissions of our operations by 52% and have reduced carbon emissions by 25% in our supply chain. All our near-term and net zero targets have been validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Over this time we’ve cut our global energy use by over 628 GWh, rolling out over 5,500 electrical vehicles and reduced our total value chain emissions by 1.9million tCO2e.

We’re committed to helping our customers reduce carbon emissions. There’s huge potential for the use of our networks, products and services to enable customers to cut their emissions through use of technologies, like full fibre broadband, mobile solutions and cloud computing.
We’ve already helped customers to avoid over 5.5 million tonnes of carbon. And our sustainability solutions, including real-time energy and carbon dashboards, will help customers to reduce their emissions even further.

Developing a circular economy is vital for achieving a net zero world
By 2030, we’ll be a circular business, and our tech ecosystem (including suppliers and customers) will be circular by 2040. That means extending the life cycle of products by reshaping, refurbishing and recycling materials to keep them in use – and out of landfill – for longer
