How to check for broadband issues in my area
Before diving into device-level diagnostics, you can check to see if there are broadband issues in your area. Head to our Service Status page where you can check for known outages or planned maintenance.
How to check my business broadband connection
If no area-wide broadband issues are reported, the next step is to assess your own setup:
Check your hub or router – Ensure it's powered on, and all cables are securely connected.
Restart your equipment – Reboot your router and connected devices. This simple step often resolves temporary glitches.
Verify your account status – Unpaid bills can lead to suspended service. Log into your BT Business account to confirm your billing status.
Firewall and security software – These can block internet access. Temporarily disable them to test connectivity.
Broadband troubleshooting
Here are a few ways to fix broadband connection problems:
Run diagnostic tests – via your BT Business account. These tests identify common issues and suggest fixes.
Check service performance – View real-time status of your broadband, phone line, and other services.
Book an engineer – If online fixes don’t resolve the issue, you can book an engineer when it’s convenient for you.
Reporting faults online is often faster and more secure. You’ll receive updates and can track progress without repeating information already linked to your account.
