BT Local Business: Capital Connections Ltd
Capital Connections Ltd
Jim Ogston started Capital Connections in 2007 after racking up 27 years with BT.
‘I’ve built up a huge amount of knowledge about how IT and telecoms can help businesses be more efficient, effective, and competitive’, says Jim. ‘I still get a kick from doing this every day’.
Jim’s team, based in Blackburn, just north of Aberdeen, includes specialists in telecoms, data networking, IT, and mobility. They’re also on top of developments with cloud technology.
‘One of our customers, a travel agent in Aberdeen, was moving to a new site in another part of the city. As a long-established business it was vital that he was able to keep the same business phone numbers. We tailored a new cloud-based solution, which ticked all of his boxes allowing a seamless transition from one site to another’.
‘We love the variety of businesses that we get to work with from corporate, oil-related businesses to industrial, agricultural, fishery, and tourism and everything in between’ explains Jim. ‘Whether they’re expanding, updating, or moving site we have a specialist and a solution that can help’.

Businesses we've helped
Double glazing company
Our customer needed a better communications solution for their field-based installers and surveyors. We worked with them to understand the needs and designed a solution that gave them the ability to download photographs and drawings from site straight into their systems. They’ve reduced the turnaround from initial visit to customer proposal, improving customer perception of their service. They’ve had great customer feedback and, just as importantly, positive staff reaction.
Perthshire is a favourite tourist spot but a number of hotels and caravan parks in the area were getting poor TripAdvisor scores because of the poor quality of the Wi-Fi service they offered. As TripAdvisor is a strong indicator when reviewing potential holiday accommodation, it’s vital to maximise the scores to attract customers. It’s not always possible to get high speed data connections in rural locations but we’ve succeeded in enhancing services to many businesses within the leisure sector.
