What does the ‘connect to a device’ feature do?
This feature works for Webex devices only, like Cisco Webex Board, Webex Desks or Room Devices. These devices are not supplied or supported as part of the BT Cloud Voice service. It doesn’t let you connect to Cloud Voice Phones.
Are the Cloud Voice Communicator app and Webex app the same?
No, they’re totally different. Webex is a completely new application with lots of new functionality. As a new app it means you’ll be starting afresh. The key changes are:
You’ll need to copy the contacts you have in Communicator as they won’t automatically transfer over to Webex.
You can access your Business Portal Company Directory in Webex. You just need to search for the name and telephone number and then add it to Webex contacts. It won’t automatically populate.
Chats on Communicator won’t be transferred over. If there’s any important information in them, copy this over and save it before you uninstall communicator.
Call Centres using Communicator can select different ring tones for incoming calls. This isn’t currently available on Webex and there’s just one ring tone. This has been raised as an improvement.
Single Click mode – if you’ve used this on Communicator it means you have set up a contact to always call one number. On Webex when you select a contact multiple numbers will be displayed you just need to click on the correct number.
