Setting up your replacement hub

Setting up your replacement hub is easy. It doesn’t matter which new hub you’re setting up, just follow these 9 easy steps:

1. Take a photo of the back of your old hub

You can then use this to see where to plug the cables into your new hub.

2. Unplug all of the cables from the back of your old hub and turn it off

You can now put your old hub and plug to one side but keep the cables in place as you’ll use them with your new hub.

3. Connect your existing cable into your new hub

For FTTP customers - Connect one end of your Ethernet cable (red ends) to the WAN port on your hub, and the other to a port on your Openreach Modem (ONT).
For non FTTP customers - Connect one end of your broadband cable (grey ends) into your new hub and the other end into the master socket or filter (if you’re using one).

4. Plug in your hub

Only using the power supply that came with your new hub, connect it to the hub and plug it into the wall. Using the picture you took in step 1, plug in any other Ethernet cables.

5. Turn on your hub

Using the power button on the back of your new hub, switch it on.

6. Wait for a solid blue/indigo light

When your hub is starting up it’ll change colours, wait for the solid blue/indigo light. Your hub will automatically restart after a few minutes. If your hub is showing a different colour or no colour at all, read our ‘What do the lights on your hub mean’ guide to find out what this means.

7. If you have a Hybrid Connect, you’ll need to pair this with your new hub.

For help, use our guide to pairing your Hybrid Connect with your new hub.

8. If you have a Wi-Fi Disc/W-Fi Plus, you’ll need to pair this with to your new hub

9. Connect to the internet

You can find your network and wi-fi password on the back of your hub and manually type this in (it’s case sensitive). Or you can scan the QR code on the back of your hub which will do this automatically for you.

10. Send your old kit back to us

To avoid any additional charges, don’t forget to send your old kit back to us in the pre-paid returns bag that you should have received. For more information use our How to return your BT equipment guide.
