Make or answer a call from anywhere

When someone calls you, a notification appears with two options – Video call or Audio call. Choose one to answer or select Decline to reject the call.

Turn a chat into a call

While in any chat, select Video call or Audio call in the top right corner. The person (or group) you’re chatting with will receive your call.

More ways to make a call

Use the dial pad

If your account has a calling plan, you can call any phone number directly from Teams.

  1. Go to Calls.
  2. Use the dial pad on the left to enter a number.
  3. Then select Call.

You can also type a person’s name or a group name in the dial pad to call them.

Using someone’s profile picture

Anywhere you see someone’s profile picture (or initials), hover over it on desktop or tap it on other devices to show call options.

You’ll be given two options:

  • Start a video call.
  • Start an audio call.

Select one to begin the call instantly.

Note for mobile users

If you’re on a Teams call on your mobile device, the screen stays on as long as you remain in the call window. If you manually turn off your screen, the call continues, but your device will lock.
