Forward BT Cloud Voice calls without a handset

You can use BT Cloud Voice Intercept to play a message to callers when you can’t access a handset or phone line.

This is useful if your office is closed, a number is no longer in use, or you need to help callers get in touch with you another way.

There are two types of Intercept:

  • Site Intercept: applies to all numbers at a site
  • User Intercept: applies to a single user or line

When Intercept is switched on, the line cannot be used to make outgoing calls (except 999 calls).

Turning on Site Intercept

  1. Sign in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal
  2. From the dashboard select your Site
  3. Select Features from the left menu
  4. In the Site Intercept tile, click the settings icon
  5. Select the Intercept incoming/outgoing site calls checkbox to switch it on, or uncheck it to switch it off
  6. You can select the System announcement (“The number you’re trying to reach is out of service”) or upload a Custom announcement
  7. Configure additional options if needed (see below)
  8. Select Save

Turning on User Intercept

  1. Sign in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal
  2. From the dashboard, select Users
  3. Search for the user and click the settings icon
  4. Select Features from the left menu
  5. Select User Intercept
  6. Select the Intercept all incoming calls checkbox to switch it on, or uncheck it to switch it off
  7. You can select the System announcement (“The number you’re trying to reach is out of service”) or upload a Custom announcement
  8. Configure additional options if needed (see below)
  9. Select Save

New number announcement

Use this option to announce a new number when your site receives a call:

  1. Select Add number under New number announcement
  2. Enter the number you’d like announced
  3. Select Save

This will add a message to the end of the first announcement, e.g. “The new number is…”

Transfer on ‘0’

Use this option to allow callers to press ‘0’ to be transferred to another number.

  1. Select Add number under Transfer on '0'
  2. Enter the number you’d like to transfer calls to
  3. Select Save

This will add a message to the end of the first announcement, e.g. “Press zero now if you wish to be transferred to the new location.”
