Webex for Cloud Voice

The BT Cloud Voice service with Cisco Webex includes the ability to make and receive audio and video calls, messaging and meetings all with collaboration too. You can join spaces, share your screen, share files or use a virtual whiteboard with colleagues and much more.

Whether you’re on the go, at a desk, or together in a meeting room, the Webex app helps speed up projects, build better relationships, and solve business challenges. It’s got all the team collaboration tools you need to keep your work moving forward.

What do I need to use Webex with my BT Cloud Voice service?

Once your Cloud Voice service is up and running, you’ll need a compatible desktop, mobile or tablet:

  • Desktop – Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or later
  • Android – Nougat 7.0 or later
  • Apple MAC - (MacOS) 10.12 or later. Intel CPU or M1 Chip
  • iPhone (iOS) - 12.0 or later
  • iPad (iOS) - 13.1 or later

You’ll also need a compatible browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge that’s had one of the last two major releases.

What username and password do I use to log in to Webex?

You’ll need to use your Application username and password.

If you’ve forgotten it, head to the Cloud Voice business portal. On the My Account page you’ll see your application username. You can reset your password by clicking Password to Change and then selecting Application.

How do I access the Business Portal?

Head over to What is the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal and how do I access it?. You’ll find all information you need.

How do I log in to the Webex app?

Click on the Webex icon on your device and enter your:

  1. Email address.
  2. Cloud Voice application username and password.

The first time you log in, you’ll be asked to accept the T&Cs and you’ll also see information about an Emergency Service dialling notice. Click OK to start using Webex.

Will the app remember my log in details?

If you click Exit on the desktop version, then your log in details will be stored so you don’t need to re-enter them next time you log in. It's similar in the mobile app, if you swipe to close the app, then your details will be remembered,

However, for security reasons if you Sign Out (rather than exit) then your log in details won’t be remembered. The next time you log in you’ll need to re-enter you email address, Cloud Voice application username and password.

If you’ve forgotten these you can find your username on the Cloud Voice portal, My Account page. You can also reset your password there too.

How do I use Webex – is there a user guide?

What does the ‘connect to a device’ feature do?

This feature works for Webex devices only, like Cisco Webex Board, Webex Desks or Room Devices. These devices are not supplied or supported as part of the BT Cloud Voice service. It doesn’t let you connect to Cloud Voice Phones.

Are the Cloud Voice Communicator app and Webex app the same?

No, they’re totally different. Webex is a completely new application with lots of new functionality. As a new app it means you’ll be starting afresh. The key changes are:

  • You’ll need to copy the contacts you have in Communicator as they won’t automatically transfer over to Webex.
  • You can access your Business Portal Company Directory in Webex. You just need to search for the name and telephone number and then add it to Webex contacts. It won’t automatically populate.
  • Chats on Communicator won’t be transferred over. If there’s any important information in them, copy this over and save it before you uninstall communicator.
  • Call Centres using Communicator can select different ring tones for incoming calls. This isn’t currently available on Webex and there’s just one ring tone. This has been raised as an improvement.
  • Single Click mode – if you’ve used this on Communicator it means you have set up a contact to always call one number. On Webex when you select a contact multiple numbers will be displayed you just need to click on the correct number.

How do I integrate my Cloud Voice calling with MS Teams?

You’ll need your MS Teams administrator to enable the use of Webex integrations for end users first. When they’ve done this each end user can then install the Webex Calling app from the Apps tab.

Each user also needs to have an active Webex service in order to integrate with MS Teams. For further help:
