Setting up Distinctive ring on BT Cloud Voice
What is Distinctive Ring?
A Distinctive Ring can tell you who is calling you, such as a key contact or manager before you even pick up the phone.
You can set this up for up to twelve external numbers and choose a Time Schedule for when your Distinctive Ring rule applies.
How to set up Distinctive Ring
- Log in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal.
- From the dashboard select Users (at the top of the screen).
- Search for the user and click the settings icon.
- Select Features on the left.
- In the Distinctive Ring tile, click the settings icon.
- Click Add rule.
- Name the rule and apply a time schedule – below you can learn how to create a time schedule if you’re not sure.
- Click Continue.
- Select All phone numbers or Selected phone numbers – you can add up to twelve numbers.
- Click Save.
This feature gives calls a different ring pattern, rather than a different ring tone, and the system will auto-select one – you don’t get to choose this.
Some devices support the use of different ring tones based on the Calling Line ID. This is a device feature and not a feature of BT Cloud Voice.
How to set up a Time Schedule
- Log in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal.
- From the dashboard, select Sites.
- Select the site for which you wish to create a schedule.
- Select Features from the left-hand menu.
- In the Schedules tile click on the settings icon.
- You’ll now find any available schedules that you’ve already set up.
- Select Edit on an existing schedule to change it, or use Add schedule to create a new one.
