Your guide to BT Cloud Voice

Get the best from BT Cloud Voice

Forward Cloud Voice calls without a handset (Site Intercept)

You can use 'BT Cloud Voice Intercept' if you want to forward calls from a site or user that you don't have access to. Callers will then hear a message giving them options on what to do next.

Say nobody can get into the office because of floods or some other disaster. You can use ‘Site Intercept' to quickly get a message to callers telling them that your office is closed and help them to get in touch with you some other way.

Or you're getting calls to a line that you no longer use or a handset you don't have access to, for example. You can use ‘User Intercept' to play a message to callers like: 'This number is no longer in service. To talk to an operator, press 0'.

It's important to note that it's not just incoming calls that are affected. When a line has an intercept on it, it can't be used to make outgoing calls (apart from 999 calls).

How do I use ‘Site Intercept'?

  1. Sign in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal
  2. From the 'Sites' menu, select the site to forward calls from
  3. Select 'Features'
  4. Select 'Site Intercept'
  5. Tick the 'Turn on Site Intercept' check box (or uncheck it to turn it off)
  6. If you want callers to hear another phone number, tick the 'Play New Phone Number' check box and enter the number into the 'New Phone Number' field
  7. If you want callers to have the option to transfer to another phone number when they press the '0' key, tick the 'Transfer on '0'' check box and enter the number in the 'Transfer To' box
  8. If you want callers to hear a personal announcement (that you've recorded and stored in a WAV format file uploaded on the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal) rather than the standard system announcement, tick the 'Use Personal Announcement' check box and click 'Browse' to select the file.

    File requirements:
CCITT-compliant, μ-Law-encoded, 8-bit WAV file with mono sound, maximum sample rate of 8 kHz, maximum size 1 MB, maximum message length 5 minutes

  9. Click 'Save'
