Set up your Cloud Voice Express desk phone (Cisco 6861)

Setting up Cloud Voice Express with your desk phone is quick and easy.

First, you'll need to check your broadband is working - your Hub’s light will be blue if it is. You’ll also need to turn on your phone and plug the handset into the port on the phone’s base.

You'll see network failure displayed on screen when you do this. Don't worry it means you're ready to get connected. You’ve two ways to do this:

Using an Ethernet cable

Plug the Ethernet cable provided into the port on the base of the phone and the other end into a port on your Hub. After 30 – 60 seconds you'll be automatically connected.

Using wi-fi

You’ve two different ways to connect to wi-fi; using your wi-fi password (on the back of your hub) or using the WPS button on your hub.

Wi-fi password

  1. Press the settings button on your phone to bring up the menu.
  2. Select Network configuration
  3. Select Wi-Fi configuration
  4. Select Wi-Fi type
  5. Select WLAN
  6. Select Set
  7. Select Wi-Fi Profile
  8. Select PSK
  9. Now choose Scan
  10. Select your Hub from the list, scroll to Passphrase, enter your wi-fi password using the keypad and click Connect

WPS button

  1. Press the settings button on your phone to bring up the menu.
  2. Select Network configuration
  3. Select Wi-Fi configuration
  4. Select Wi-Fi type
  5. Select WPS
  6. Select Set
  7. Choose push button configuration
  8. Press Select
  9. Now press the WPS button on your Business Hub then press continue when you’ve done this.

Your phone will automatically connect after 30-60 seconds. You’ll see your phone number on the screen and a green light on the top left button when it’s done this. If your phone hasn't connected, you'll need to repeat the steps above.

No phone number is displayed on your desk phone

If a phone number isn't showing, then follow the instructions to set up an additional desk phone

How to factory reset your Cisco 6861 deskphone

Sometimes a phone might not connect as the firmware isn’t installing properly. In this case you’ll need to do a factory reset to reinstall the firmware:

  1. Connect your phone as outlined in the steps above.
  2. Press the Settings button on your phone.
  3. Select Device Administration.
  4. Select Factory reset.
  5. Press Select - you’ll be asked “Do you want to perform a factory rest”.
  6. Select OK
  7. Your device will reboot and display the Cisco logo, and then “Network configuration failure”
  8. Now re-connect your Cisco 6861 following the steps outlined above.
