Set up and use Call Pickup on BT Cloud Voice

Call Pickup lets you answer calls that are ringing on another user’s phone. It’s useful when calls can be handled by more than one person.

How Call Pickup works

Call Pickup works through Call Pickup Groups. These are set up by an administrator and define which users can answer each other’s calls.

  • Multiple Call Pickup Groups can be created
  • A user can only be a member of one Call Pickup Group

Setting up a Call Pickup Group

  1. Sign in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal
  2. Select Site from the dashboard
  3. Select Features from the left menu
  4. In the Pickup group tile, select the settings icon
  5. Select Add group
  6. Enter a name for the group
  7. Under Select user, choose the users you want to add
  8. Select Save

Answering a call using Call Pickup

Dial *98 to answer a call ringing for another user in your group. If more than one phone is ringing, the call that’s been ringing the longest will be answered first.

If you’re already on a call, you can:

  • Put your current call on hold
  • Dial *98 to answer the incoming call
  • Switch between calls or end one and continue with the other

Directed Call Pickup with Barge-in

If a user is on a call and you need to speak to them urgently, you can join a specific call using Directed Call Pickup with Barge-in:

  • Dial *33
  • Enter the user’s extension number

If the user is not set as ‘Barge-in Exempt’, you’ll join the call.

Turn on a Barge-in warning tone

  1. Sign in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal
  2. Select Users from the top menu
  3. Search for the user and select the settings icon
  4. Select Features from the left menu
  5. In the Directed Call Pickup with Barge-in warning tone tile, select the settings icon
  6. Turn the toggle on
