My Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) machine won’t connect with my Smart Hub 3 via Wi-Fi

The BT Business Smart Hub 3 utilises Wi-Fi 6 (also known as AX Wi-Fi or 802.11ax Wi-Fi) which uses enhanced security.

Some EPOS machines aren’t compatible with the improved security and won’t connect to the hub via Wi-Fi. Your EPOS machine will detect the Wi-Fi network from your hub but won’t be able to connect after entering the Wi-Fi password.

To work around this:

  1. Switch on Guest Wi-Fi using the steps in this guide to Guest Wi-Fi.
  2. Connect your EPOS machine using the separate Wi-Fi name generated.

You may discover that you can disable security entirely on your Wi-Fi connection, we don’t recommend this as it will mean anyone in range can connect to your Wi-Fi network, including those with malicious intent, exposing your business connection to security risks.
