Managing incoming calls in Operator Connect
Choose how you want Microsoft Teams to handle your incoming calls. These settings apply to calls made to your direct or assigned phone number.
Find your call settings
To access your call settings in Teams:
- Select Settings and more (the three dots next to your profile picture in the top-right corner of Teams).
- From the menu, select Settings, then choose Calls.
Set up ‘Calls ring me’
In the Calls section, you’ll see a setting called Calls ring me. Here you can control what happens when someone calls you, including:
- Who else is notified when a call comes in (‘Also ring’).
- What happens if you don’t answer the call (‘If unanswered’).
Also ring
This setting lets you choose if your calls should ring somewhere else at the same time as your Microsoft Teams (also known as simultaneous ringing).
Options include:
- New number or contact. You can choose another phone number or colleague so their device rings at the same time as yours.
- No one else. Only your signed-in Teams devices will ring (for example, your laptop or mobile app).
- Call group. This option will simultaneously ring a group of people that you’ve set up to help answer your calls.
If unanswered
This setting controls what happens if you don’t answer the call.
Options include:
- Voicemail. Sends the call to your voicemail so the caller can leave a message.
- New number or contact. Redirects the call to another number or person.
- Do nothing. The call will stop ringing after the set time and end.
- Call group. Redirects the call to your call group if you don’t answer it.
Forward my calls
This setting lets you send calls elsewhere instead of ringing you first (for example, when you’re away or unavailable).
Options include:
- Voicemail. Sends all calls directly to voicemail.
- New number or contact. Forwards all calls to another number or person.
- Call group. Sends all calls to a group of people who can answer on your behalf.
Please note that if you have the Teams mobile app installed, your calls can still ring on your mobile device using your assigned number, even when you’re away from your computer.
