Understanding my Mobile data allowance

Mobile phone plans have a monthly data usage limit, unless you're on a plan with unlimited data. Here are some tips on how to keep track of and get the most from your mobile data.

How do I turn my mobile data on and off?

Head to the settings and data section on your phone. Depending on the phone you're using how to do this varies, here are a few examples.

iPhones: Settings > Mobile Data > Toggle on/off.

Samsung: Settings > Connections > Data Usage Toggle on/off.

What happens if I go over my data allowance?

If you go over your data allowance, we'll give you an extra 500mb of data for £5 and send you a text to let you know we've done this. We'll cap your data usage if this happens 10 times in the same billing cycle. If this happens regularly, get in touch with us and we'll help you find a plan that's better suited for your data usage.

Can I cap my data allowance?

You can apply a Spend Cap to any mobile plan purchased on or after 1st October 2018, so you can limit how much you spend on top of your monthly plan. It's a simple way for you to take control of your charges to ensure there are no alarms and no surprises.

How do I track my data allowance?

Your data usage can be tracked on most mobile devices using the built-in data settings. How to do this varies from device to device, but here are a few examples:

Samsung: Settings > Connections > Data usage > Billing cycle > Data warning.

Huawei: Settings > Wireless & networks > Data usage > More data settings > Monthly data limit.

Your data allowance refreshes each month on your billing cycle date.

Can I use my data allowance abroad?

You can use your data allowance in 48 European destinations at no extra cost. If you're travelling outside of these destinations, you'll need to buy a roaming add-on or package to use abroad.
