System programming on your BT Versatility

Entering system programming on your BT Versatility

System programming can only be accessed from the programming extension. This is usually extension 20 but it can be changed to another extension number in the programming. Find out how below.

To enter system programming:

  1. From the Programming Extension, press the PROGRAM key.
  2. Press the Scroll Down key until System programming is displayed.
  3. Select System programming.
  4. Enter the System Programming Password to access system programming.

If the programming position’s been changed it can be located by attempting to access programming from all extensions. (You’ll need to connect a Featurephone to the extension to prove this). Only the programming extension will offer the prompt to 'Enter the System Password', all other extensions will show 'Programming refused'.

Changing the system programming extension

Before changing the system programming extension to another extension position, test that a Featurephone works in the other extension position if a Featurephone is not already connected to the position.

System programming can only be carried out at one Featurephone connected to the Programming Extension.

To change the Programming Extension:

  1. From the Programming Extension, press the Program Key.
  2. Press the Scroll down Key until System programming is displayed.
  3. Select System programming.
  4. Enter the System Programming Password and select System.
  5. Select Programming position.
  6. Select the Extension you wish to have as the Programming Extension.

Continue programming from the new programming extension position.

You can also change extension 20 to the port for extension 23 by using the feature Port Swapping.

Port Swapping lets you swap the extension number and all the features of one extension with the extension number and all the features of another extension.

The port is NOT physically swapped, this is a software function of the system only.

This feature can also be used if an extension interface becomes faulty, you can swap its extension programming to a different extension. Calls for the faulty extension will be routed to the new extension.

To change extension 20 to the port for extension 23:

  1. From the Programming Extension, press the PROGRAM Key.
  2. Select ‘System programming’.
  3. Enter the System Programming Password and select ‘Extensions’.
  4. Press the Scroll Down Key until ‘Port Swapping’ is displayed.
  5. Select ‘Port swapping’.
  6. Select the first Extension from the Extension list.
  7. Select the second Extension from the Extension list.
  8. Press the Hands-free Key to finish programming.

If you swap the programming extension this happens once the 2nd extension is selected in the programming. Or to continue programming you’ll have to go to the other extension. The programming feature follows the extension.

Changing external diverts on BT Versatility

You can change the number that calls to an extension are diverted to, either an internal number or an external number, but first you’ll need to cancel the existing divert.

Cancel the existing divert from the phone that has the divert set.  If it’s a divert all calls that is set, select the Cancel divert option on the Featurephone display.

A new divert can now be set up:

  1. On the Featurephone scroll down and select Divert.
  2. Select divert all calls and then enter 9 followed by the number you wish to divert the calls to, e.g. 900317123456.
  3. Select confirm to complete the entry.

External Transfer has disappeared from the display on my BT Versatility. What can I do?

If there’s no option on your display to perform an External Transfer, it’s usually because the extension you’re using doesn’t have permission to externally transfer calls.

By default all extensions are restricted from making external transfers but you can program it so you can:

  1. From the Programming Extension, press the programme key.
  2. Press the Scroll Down Key until System programming is displayed.
  3. Select System programming.
  4. Enter the System Programming Password and select Extensions.
  5. Press the Scroll Down Key until External Diversion is displayed.
  6. Select External diversion.
  7. Select No trunk to trunk calls.
  8. Select the extensions that are not allowed to activate an external diversion or set up trunk to trunk calls.
  • If both internal and external calls are to be diverted select 'All calls'.
  • If external calls only are to be diverted select 'External calls only'
