BT Versatility ring groups

There are 20 ring groups and they can all be used in any order (groups 11 to 20 are slightly different to the other groups, this will be explained later).

Allocate the extensions you want to ring group for incoming or internal calls. You can program between 1 and 16 extensions in each group.

By default, group 1 is programmed to extensions 20 to 27, meaning that the default ringing mode for all lines to ring group 1 will ring extensions 20 through to 27.

All the other groups are programmed with extension 20 only. Extensions can be programmed in more than one group, but all groups must be programmed with at least one extension.

Each group is given a unique number, so group 1 is 180, group 2 is 181 and so on until group 20 is 199. These can be called internally, or calls transferred by their unique group number.

DDI numbers can be programmed to ring a group.

Enabled mailbox

If a group has a mailbox enabled, then you can programme calls on busy, no answer or all group calls to route to the mailbox. The group mailbox number is the same as the group number (180 to 199).

Hunt groups

Extensions can be programmed into hunt groups. Instead of ringing all the extensions in the hunt group, you can programme three types of call routing which are linear, cyclic and longest idle hunt group. Extensions must log into the hunt group.

Extensions can be assigned to call pickup groups to answer ringing extensions.

Group examples:

Group 5 has extensions 24 and 27 with a line 2 assigned. When line 2 receives an incoming call, extensions 24 and 27 will ring together if they’re free.

In the same office extension 31 is wanting to answer this call then create a new spare group with extensions 24, 27 and 31 assigned. This new call pickup group will let extension 31 answer the call by selecting call pickup or dialling the pickup code.

Extension groups 11 to 20

As mentioned, groups 11 to 20 have an additional feature to be used as options on an auto attendant. So, if calls route to an Auto Attendant and options 1 to 3 are groups 20 to 18. You need to assign the extensions to each of the groups for these options. Remember extension 20 is assigned to each of the 20 groups.
