What is ETSI?
ETSI stands for ‘European Telecommunications Standards Institute’. It is a body that governs the communications standards within Europe.
ISDN30e is the fully ETSI compliant version of ISDN30. This means that it will work with any piece of equipment that is ETSI compliant.
What signalling type does ISDN30e use?
ISDN30e uses Q.931 signalling protocol.
What does ISDN30e terminate on?
ISDN30e terminates on RJ45 sockets.
Is my ISDN30e circuit Balanced or Unbalanced? My PBX/switch engineer needs to know.
The technical information you need to know is that it is G704, 120 Ohms, Balanced.
How many DDI ranges can I have on my ISDN30e circuit?
With ISDN30e you can have up to 5 layers of DDI numbers. The layers can either be single numbers or DDI ranges. DDI ranges are supplied in blocks of 10, but can be anything (i.e. 100s or 1000s). The maximum number of layers is 5. All numbers are applied consistently to all channels.
Example: 5 layers shared over all channels. On an ISDN30e setup, what applies to one channel applies to them all (see illustration below).

How can I divert an individual DDI number on my ISDN30e line?
If you have a suitable switch or PBX you can use Customer Controlled Call Deflection to divert calls to individual DDI numbers. The service needs to be enabled on the line before you can use it, but apart from that, it is exchange-independent. You configure your equipment to either allow answering of the call or to deflect it to a number of your choice. The diverted leg of the call is chargeable.
