We’re discontinuing our BT Managed Websites service from Thursday 11 December 2025.
We’ll also no longer support the service from this date. This means you’ll need to move your website, hosting and domain name to an alternative provider.
We strongly recommend acting as soon as possible to avoid any disruption or downtime before losing access to your website.
What this means for you
- Your website will stop working from 11 December 2025. You’ll need to take action now to avoid disruption.
- You’ll need to move your website and hosting to an alternative provider, which may involve rebuilding your website. Find out more about who you can move your website and hosting to.
- You will no longer have access to the BT Managed Websites service from 11 December 2025, which includes:
- Website hosting.
- Content Management System (CMS).
- Metered numbers.
- Any email addresses provided with the service. - If you wish to retain the metered number included with your BT Managed Websites service, go to our metered numbers section below for more information.
- It may also be possible to retain the included email inbox service. Go to our email inbox section below for more information.
Your domain name
This will not immediately impact the use of your domain name. Even though the Managed Websites service is being discontinued, your domain will remain active with its registrar until at least its current expiry date. Go to our domain name section below for more information on finding out who your domain registrar is and when it expires.
If Network Solutions are the registrar for your domain they will write to you soon, letting you know how you can create an account with them to manage your domain name settings (DNS) and how they can be contracted if you need their support.
Who to move your website, hosting and domain name to
You can move to any website supplier or ICANN-accredited domain registrar of your choice.
Network Solutions is the company that BT Business worked with to provide Domains, Website Builder and BT Managed Websites. You may choose to contact Network Solutions to discuss transitioning your website to them.
Your questions, answered
Domain name
What will happen to my domain name between now and its expiry date?
Your domain name registration, including any communications relating to renewals, will continue to be managed by your domain name registrar until your domain name’s expiry date.
The Who.is tool can help you find out the domain name registrar and the domain’s expiry date.
Who is my domain name registered with, and when will it expire?
You can use the Who.is tool to find out. When you search for your domain name, it will tell you:
- The registrar (for example, Network Solutions LLC, Register.com, Register.com Inc t/a British Telecom, BT Names).
- Important dates such as when your domain was created, updated and when it expires.
Network Solutions LLC, Register.com, Register.com Inc t/a British Telecom and BT Names are all names used by Network Solutions.
Note: it’s not possible to transfer an expired domain name to a different registrar.
How can I find out when my domain name is due to expire?
You can search for your domain using the Who.is tool.
This will tell you the expiration date and confirm who the domain registrar is. For example:

What happens if I do not renew my domain name before the expiry date?
If you do not renew your domain name before the expiry date:
- You risk losing ownership of the domain name.
- Your website and email services may stop working.
There’s usually a period from the expiry date when the registrar can renew the domain name for you. But if you wait too long, there’s a risk that the domain name will become available for others to purchase – if someone else purchases it, you will lose the domain name.
Note: after the domain’s expiry date, it’s not possible to transfer a domain name to an alternative registrar without first renewing the domain name with the existing registrar. This would mean paying for the domain name twice.
Therefore, renewing or transferring your domain name well in advance of its expiry date is recommended.
Will my website or email stop working if my domain name expires?
Your website and email will only continue to function as long as your domain remains active. To avoid disruption, make sure you renew your domain name before its expiry date.
If your domain name expires, any website or email addresses using it will be impacted.
Note – as your website product is being withdrawn by BT, this applies to your website once it’s been rebuilt with a new provider.
My domain name is registered with Network Solutions – how will they let me know it’s due to expire?
You'll receive an email from Network Solutions, usually from any of the following email addresses:
- info@eml.networksolutions.com
- support@account.networksolutions.com
- support@networksolutions.com
- noreply@networksolutions.com
You are likely to receive this email from around 30 days before the expiry date. You might want to consider marking these email addresses as a safe senders to ensure the email doesn’t end up in your spam folder.
If you’re renewing with Network Solutions
- Network Solutions will email you on or after 11 December 2025 with additional information, which will include specific username and login details.
- Follow the instructions and log in to Network Solutions using the details provided.
- Update your contact information and input your payment information under My Profile.
- You might also choose to visit the renewal centre and switch on Auto Renew to ensure your domain never expires.
This can be done at any time before the domain expiry date to ensure the domain does not expire, though we recommend doing it well in advance. If you have any problems with renewal, please contact Network Solutions directly.
My domain name is registered with Easyspace – how will they let me know it’s due to expire?
You'll receive an email from Easyspace, usually from the following email address:
hostmaster@easyspace.com
You’re likely to receive the email from around 30 days before the expiry date. You might want to consider marking this email address as a safe sender, to ensure the email doesn’t end up in your spam folder.
You can contact Easyspace via their website to manage your domain. Easyspace also offer a range of website solutions. You may choose to contact them to discuss transitioning your website to them.
Can I move the domain to an alternative registrar?
Yes. You can request to transfer your domain to any ICANN-accredited domain registrar of your choice.
If you’re transferring to another ICANN-accredited domain registrar
- Before your domain is due to expire, arrange to transfer the domain to your chosen ICANN-accredited domain registrar.
- The chosen registrar will be able to guide you on transferring the domain name.
This can be done at any time before the domain expiry date to ensure the domain does not expire, though we recommend doing it well in advance. If you have any problems with the transfer, please contact the chosen registrar directly.
Metered numbers
I’m using a metered phone number with my website – can I keep it?
If your website includes a metered phone number – a phone number that you may have been given as part of your Managed Websites product package – you may be able to keep it.
You’ll need to contact Iovox, who BT Business previously worked with as the metered phone number provider. Simply email support@iovox.com and their help team will tell you what you need to do.
Email inbox
What will happen to my email mailbox?
If your own domain email service was part of your BT Managed Website package
You can continue using your email inbox by contacting Easyspace, who BT previously worked with as the provider. It’s also likely that Easyspace is the registrar of your domain name.
You can contact Easyspace via their website. You may also choose to contact them to discuss transitioning your website to them.
If your btconnect email service was part of the BT Managed Website package
Unfortunately, you’ll be unable to keep your email inbox. This is because ‘btconnect’ (The BT-managed domain) cannot be moved and managed to individual companies or users.
We recommend that:
- You move to a domain-based email service.
- Whilst the btconnect addresses remain active, you set up email forwarding to a new email address that you want to use for your business. This means you’ll receive any emails directed to your old email address, and be able to reply to the recipients via your new email address while the btconnect addresses remain active.
- You update any digital channels – for example your website or social media accounts – with the new email address.
Please note: any btconnect email addresses will expire 30 days after the Managed Website product is discontinued.
Your data
What will happen to my data from the expiry date?
You will no longer be able to access these systems or the data held on them from the expiry date unless you have moved your service to a new provider. Please ensure you remove or copy any information from the applicable systems before the expiry date.
BT and its suppliers may be required to hold certain data about you beyond this point to comply with applicable legal obligations. Once these periods have lapsed, your data will be securely deleted.
Need more help?
If you need more assistance, please contact Network Solutions for information about your domain registration and moving your website to them.
You can also contact Easyspace if your email inbox and domain names are registered with them.
