How do I upload or manage my files using File Manager Pro?

There are a number of ways you can manage your files with File Manager Pro which we've outlined below. If you need to upload or work with a large number of files we'd recommend using FTP instead.

To access File Manager Pro

1. Sign in to Manage services.
2. In the Web Hosting section, click on the Manage web hosting link.
3. Click on the Manage link for the domain name of the website you wish to manage. The BT Website Centre will then open in a new window.
4. In the BT Website Centre click on the Manage Websites button in the navigation bar along the top of your screen (next to the Home button).
5. Under Website Tools you should see File Manager Pro. Move your cursor over this and then click on the Launch button to bring up File Manager Pro.

Upload files

1. Use the left window to navigate to the directory you want your files in.
2. Click on the desired directory in the left window. Ensure that this directory in is now open in the right window.
3. Click on the Upload button.
4. In the pop up window click on Browse.
5. Locate the file on your computer, click to select it and click Open.
6. Repeat steps 3 & 4 if you need to upload multiple files.
7. Click on the Upload files button. The files are now on your hosting package.

Delete files

1. Follow steps 1. & 2. in Upload files to locate the file(s) to be deleted.
2. Click on the file to be deleted in the right hand window and then the Delete button.
3. A warning dialog indicating that you about to delete the file(s) is displayed. Click on the Delete button. Remember once any file is deleted it cannot be recovered.

Rename files

1. Follow steps 1. & 2. in Upload files to locate the file(s) to be renamed.
2. Right click on the file to be renamed in the right hand window and select the Rename option from the menu.
3. In the popup box enter the new file name. We'd suggest keeping the files extension (e.g. .html, .php etc.) the same or the file may no longer work.
4. Click on the Rename button. The file is now renamed.

Copy or move files

1. Follow steps 1. & 2. in Upload files to locate the file to be copied or moved.
2. Select the file to be copied/moved in the right hand window and click on the Copy button (or Cut if the file to be moved).
3. Use the left window to navigate to the directory you want your file copied or moved to.
4. Click on the desired directory in the left window. Ensure that this directory in is now open in the right window.
5. Click on the Paste button to copy or move your file across

Edit text files

File Manager Pro allows you to edit some text files like HTML or PHP on the server.

1. Follow steps 1. & 2. in Upload files to locate the file to be edited.

2. Right click on file to be edited in the right hand window and select Edit as text.

   If you don't get this option you can't edit this file in File Manager Pro.

3. Make the required changes to your file and click the Save button to save the changes.
