Single Calling Line ID lets you choose which number is shown when users make outgoing calls. You can display a single number for all users or assign different numbers to groups.
How Single Calling Line ID works
Each user can only display one number at a time. You control which number is shown using the Group Calling Line ID feature in the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal.
For example, you might choose to display a main ‘Sales’ number instead of individual user numbers. This means when customers return a call, they’re directed to the right team rather than a specific person.
Set up a calling line ID
- Log in to the BT Cloud Voice Business Portal.
- Select your Site from the dashboard.
- Select Features from the left menu.
- In the Group calling line ID tile, select the settings icon.
- You’ll be able to choose from the three options below.
User number
This displays each user’s own number when making calls. This is the default option – no changes are needed to set this up.
Site number
This displays the same number for all users on the site.
- Select Site number.
- Choose the number you want to display.
- Select Save.
- To change this later, select Manage under the Site display number.
Presentation number
This allows you to assign different numbers to groups of users.
- Select Presentation number.
- Enter a name for the group.
- Choose the number to display.
- Select Continue.
- Select the users to add to the group.
- Select Save.
- To add more groups select Add calling group and repeat the steps.
New users are added to the default group automatically. Only one group can be set as the default.
Set a Site display name
You can also choose to display a name for outgoing calls instead of a number. This typically only applies when calling mobile numbers.
- Under Site display name, select send as part of caller ID for outbound calls.
- Enter the name you want to display.
- Select Save.
- To update the name, select Manage and repeat the steps.
