  • How can the Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme help pay for my fibre or leased line?

    The scheme is a government initiative that helps small businesses in certain cities get faster internet speeds.

    Eligible businesses can get £120 off superfast fibre broadband or up to £3000 off a leased line.

    Does ‘Unlimited’ really mean unlimited?

    When will I be able to get superfast fibre broadband?

    Take a look at our fibre availability checker to see which of our fibre products are available at your premises.

    If you’ve already done that and found that it’s not yet available, check the Openreach site to find out the superfast fibre broadband rollout plans for where you are.

    Can I keep my number if I switch my phone and broadband to BT Business?

    Yes, if you're not moving address. If you're moving premises as well as switching your phone and broadband to us, it depends on where you're moving. You need to be on the same telephone exchange to keep your number.

    Can I get broadband from BT if my phone line is with someone else?

    No, you'll need a BT line to have broadband or fibre from BT.

    How do I upgrade my Broadband & Phone line Package?

    You can upgrade your broadband or fibre package online at any time.

    When you upgrade you’ll start a new contract that will run for 12 or 24 months (depending what you choose) from when you upgrade.

    If you currently have a Value phone line and want to upgrade to a Standard or Critical line, you’ll need to call us on 0800 169 0629 so we can make the change for you.

  • How do I access the more than 5 million BT Wi-fi hotspots around the UK?

    Select the BT Wi-fi network from the available networks on your device then login with your ‘@btconnect.com’ details (we gave you these when you joined us).

    To make it really easy, there’s also a BT Wi-fi app.

    How long will it take to get my broadband up and running?

    It depends on what you’re after and local availability, but our minimum

    How easy is it to install fibre or broadband?

    Very!

    We do all the work at the exchange and in the street cabinet.

    Depending on the product you order and the speeds available at your premises, you’ll either plug in the BT Hub yourself or we’ll send an engineer out to you.

    The Hub comes with simple instructions so you shouldn’t have any problems. And if you’re an existing Infinity customer upgrading your package, you don’t need to do a thing – stick with your existing Hub, and we’ll take care of the rest.

    What happens if something goes wrong with my phone or broadband?

    It depends on the type of broadband or fibre that you have. The response times shown here assume that you report before 6pm on a working day.

    We’ll fix your fault within 2 working days of you reporting the fault to us.

    BT Broadband Unlimited, BT Broadband Premium, BT Infinity Unlimited, and BT Infinity Premium
    We’ll fix your fault by the end of the next working day.

    We also have different response times for our phone lines. Again, the times shown here assume you report the fault to us by 6pm on a working day.

    How will you help me keep track of how much data I'm using?

    If you’re on either of our limited services, BT Broadband (10GB limit) or BT Infinity (50GB limit), we’ll send you an email when you’re close to using 80% of your data allowance.

    You can also keep an eye on your usage by logging into your My BT Business account. Then go to Manage Services and click on Broadband Checker.

    Will I need a new router?

    You’ll need a router to get up and running, but don’t worry. If you’re a new customer you’ll receive either our Hub 3 or Hub 5 – depending on whether you’re going for broadband or superfast fibre broadband.

    If you’re an existing broadband customer and you’ve upgraded to superfast fibre broadband, we’ll send you out a brand new Hub 5.

    If you’re an existing broadband or superfast broadband customer and you want to change your monthly subscription, but not the type of broadband (broadband or superfast broadband) you’re using, then you can carry on using the hub you already have. This saves you the hassle of installing a new one.

    Why do we have different prices?

    Our costs vary from place to place so depending on where your business is, you may see higher, or lower, prices.

    Support - broadband

    All of our Unlimited and Premium subscriptions come with Prompt Care service as standard.

    This means that in the unlikely event that you have a problem, if you report it before 6pm we’ll aim to fix it by the end of the next working day, Monday to Saturday.

    If we're late in fixing the fault, you may be eligible to claim £25 off your next bill through our Customer Service Compensation Scheme.

    Here’s the detail:

    We aim to fix faults reported Monday to Saturday by 23.59 on the next working day.

    The broadband Customer Service Compensation Scheme covers BT Business Broadband Unlimited, BT Business Broadband Premium, BT Business Infinity Unlimited and BT Business Infinity Unlimited.

    You must have reported the fault to us (and have a fault reference number).

    Make sure you claim within 90 days of us fixing the fault.

    If your claim is successful, we’ll credit your next bill with £25.

    Check the full details of the scheme if you want to know more (and to read about the exclusions to it).

    If you choose one of our plans with a data allowance: BT Business Broadband or BT Business Infinity, and you let us know there's a problem before 6pm, we'll aim to get it fixed within two working days. This is the same for your phone line and your broadband.

    If we're late in fixing the fault, you may be eligible to claim a daily rate rental rebate through our Customer Service Compensation Scheme.

    Engineer appointments

    If an engineer needs to visit your premises, you’ll be able to choose an appointment between 8am and 1pm or between 1pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday. We don’t make appointments for bank holidays.

    The engineer will arrive to start the work during these times. They may not finish the work until after the end of the time slot.

    If we don’t need to send an engineer, your fibre broadband will start working at some point before midnight on the day of activation (we’ll tell you about that when you place your order).

    Free unlimited access to over 5 million wi-fi hotspots around the UK

    You can start using the BT Wi-fi hotspots as soon as you’ve confirmed your order (that’s right: you don’t even need to wait for us to install your broadband!).

    Just login with your ‘@btconnect.com’ details and you’ll be away.

    Microsoft Office 365 Small Business license included as standard with Broadband Premium, Infinity Unlimited and Infinity Premium subscriptions

    BT Business Broadband Premium, BT Business Infinity Unlimited, BT Business Infinity Premium all include one user license for Microsoft Office 365 Small Business. Read more about it here. This gives you access to Professional Office applications so you can create and access documents and business-class email securely anytime, anywhere - on any device.

    Because Office 365 is run from the cloud you won’t need to worry about updating to a new version - ever. All that is taken care of, so you’ll know you’re always using the most up to date versions of programs like Word and Excel.

    You can easily upgrade to Microsoft Office 365 Small Business Premium if you want to. You’ll only pay an extra £4 each month. You can add more licenses for either Microsoft Office 365 Small Business or Microsoft Office Small Business Premium if you need to.

    You’ll need a domain name to get going with Microsoft Office 365. This can be the domain name you’ve already got, or we can sort one out for you.

    You’ll get BT Tech Heads included as standard with BT Business Broadband Premium and BT Business Infinity Premium, giving you technical support on a wide range of IT issues for up to 3 computers. This is on top of the Prompt Care you’ll receive for any broadband faults.

    Tell me more about the speeds I can get with superfast fibre broadband

    There are several factors that can affect your speed, including:

    • Distance between your premises and your telephone exchange
    • Distance between your installation point and the green cabinet in the street
    • The condition, length, and amount of your internal wiring
    • The equipment you’re using

    You'll get a more consistent speed with fibre broadband than you would with standard broadband.

    What you need to get online with superfast fibre broadband

    To get superfast fibre broadband you’ll need a BT phone line. If you’ve already got standard broadband installed on it we’ll just upgrade the service to superfast fibre broadband, if it’s available.

    BT Business Call Essentials: the Call Plan

    There is a 24-month minimum period (although BT Business Call Essentials doesn't actually cost you anything). At the end of the period, you'll continue to be on the Call Plan but you'll no longer receive the 100 free minutes every month.

    The 100 free minutes each month applies to each line that you include in the Call Plan, except for Value lines.

    The Call Plan includes calls of up to 60 minutes to fixed UK (01, 02, 03, 05 - where charged at G21 rates) and 0800 numbers, and calls from Northern Ireland to fixed destinations in the Republic of Ireland. Plus UK fixed to UK mainland mobile calls (excludes calls to specialised numbers and some other rates).

    BT Business Call Essentials: the call packages

    Both the UK Unlimited and 2500 IDD call packages have a minimum period of 24 months.

    If you end your call package within the minimum period, you'll have to pay a charge for finishing early. The charge is equal to 50% of the outstanding monthly charges from when you finish the call package to the end of the minimum period.

    BT One Plan Traditional on 12-month contracts

    50p for fixed UK calls lasting up to an hour to all 01, 02, and 03 numbers

    80p for calls to most UK mobiles lasting up to an hour

    10p - £20.00 for international calls lasting up to an hour, depending on the country you call

    Capped calls

    UK landlines to 01, 02, and 03 numbers only: 5p set-up fee on each call; charges for each minute over 60 minutes - see fair use policy and conditions.

    Our broadband packages that include a Value phone line are only available as new services. That means that you cannot change your existing phone line service for a Value service.
