How to configure LAN and Firewall
As a Digital Voice customer, our LAN and firewall features can help ensure your network is optimised and secure – something that’s crucial for maintaining communication and protecting your data. Find out how to configure these features effectively.
What is a Local Area Network (LAN)?
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a network that connects computers and devices within a limited area, such as an office, home, or building. It lets devices communicate and share resources, such as files, printers, and internet connections.
Key benefits:
- Efficient resource sharing. LAN enables easy sharing of files, printers, and other resources among connected devices.
- High-speed connectivity. LAN provides fast and reliable connections between devices, improving overall network performance.
- Enhanced collaboration. LAN facilitates seamless communication and collaboration among team members within the same network.
What is a firewall?
A firewall is a security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. It acts as a barrier between your internal network and external threats, protecting your data and devices from unauthorised access.
Key benefits:
- Enhanced security. A firewall protects your network from cyber threats, such as hackers and malware, by blocking unauthorised access.
- Traffic monitoring. A firewall monitors and controls network traffic to ensure that only safe and authorised data passes through.
- Customisable rules. With a firewall, you can set specific security rules based on your needs, providing tailored protection for your network.
