Help with voicemail on BT Versatility

Accessing your voicemail messages remotely

You can remotely access voicemail messages, even from a mobile phone.

If you have DDI numbering on each extension that has a mailbox, you can ring in via your DDI number. If your voice mailbox is turned on you’ll be able to access your messages remotely.

When your call has been answered by your mailbox greeting:

  1. Access your voice mail by dialling the code 711
  2. Enter your extension number
If accessing the system voicemail box dial 0
  3. Enter your voice mail password, then press #
    The default is 1111
  4. Then dial the following numbers to access your messages:
    • 1 - Playback commences at the first message.
    • 91 - Change the outgoing greeting.
    • 92 - Check the outgoing greeting.
    • 93 - Delete the outgoing greeting.
    • 0 - Change voicemail password.
  5. When playback of messages has commenced, dial:
    • # - Playback is paused.
    • 2 - Save this message and move to next message.
    • 3 - Erase this message and move to next message.
    • 4 - Go back to start of the message.
    • 5 - Go back to the previous message.
    • 6 - Erase all messages.
    • 7 - Go back 10 seconds.
    • 8 - Go forward 10 seconds/skip time stamp.
    • 9 - Forward the message to another extension.

Why are my phones only ringing three times before going to voicemail on my BT Versatility?

My phones are only ringing three times before going to voicemail - can this be extended to seven or eight rings?

  • If you’re using the System Voicemail box then you need to extend the System Voicemail box delay timer.
  • If you’re using Extension or Group Mailboxes then you need to change the Divert on No Answer Timer.

For full details see page 96 of the BT Versatility Owner’s Manual at the end of this article.

Fixing problems with voicemail on BT Versatility

If voicemail won’t work on your BT Versatility, it might be because voicemail isn’t standard on all systems.

If it’s not on your system, it can be purchased as an optional extra by contacting Business Sales or your BT Account manager.

To check if your system has voicemail:

  1. Select the Message key on a Featurephone.
  2. Select Voice messaging.
If voicemail is not on your system, this will return an invalid message
If voicemail is on your system, you will get a voice prompt to enter the mailbox number.
  3. Press hands-free or replace the receiver to clear.

For more information on using voicemail and other voice services, see page 67 of the BT Versatility Owner’s Manual.
