Using Auto Attendant on BT Versatility to automatically answer calls

You can automatically answer calls on BT Versatility using Auto Attendant.

You can use Auto Attendant if the system is equipped with a Voice Module. If you’re not sure if your BT Versatility system is equipped with a Voice Module, check if your system has voicemail.

The Auto Attendant feature can be used anytime you want your calls to be answered automatically by the system and greeted with a recorded announcement. The time before the call is answered is programmable. Find out how to program Auto attendant below.

For more information on Voicemail see page 67 and for Auto Attendant see page 76 of the BT Versatility Owner’s Manual:

Can Directory Message be used when I’m using the BT Versatility Auto Attendant?

The Directory Message is there as an additional greeting.

For example your main Auto Attendant greeting might say:

  • For sales dial 1.
  • For accounts dial 2 - if you know the extension number of the person you require then dial now.
  • Alternatively, if you would like to listen to the company Directory dial # now.
  • If you require assistance, please wait or dial 0.

Dialling # will take the caller to the Directory Message.

This could be recorded as follows:

  • For Jim Smith dial 20.
  • For Joe Bloggs dial 21.
  • For Sarah Montague dial 22 etc.
  • If you require assistance, please wait or dial 0.

The Directory message allows you to give the caller more information, but the caller chooses if they want to hear that extra information by dialling #.
