If you have BTnet, you can update your LAN settings using the BTnet LAN settings form.
BTnet comes ready with LAN settings to suit many customers. The table below shows the default settings, plus the available settings you can change them to.
This information will help you fill in the form and choose the right BTnet LAN settings for your business.

Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Client Tracking |
|
Track clients by MAC address |
You may need to switch to IP address tracking if you have additional LAN equipment which requires it, but MAC addressing will be suitable in most cases. |
Internal IP address routing |
Add static routes manually. Two set as default templates |
192.168.128.0/24 (default, data devices) 192.168.193.0/24 (voice devices) |
Two IP subnets/routes are templated to account for general data traffic and voice on the network when a device is detected via either the LAN ports, or Wi-Fi connectivity. It's unlikely that you would need any more routes adding, but the actual internal IP addressing scheme for each of these default routes can be changed here if required. |
Per-port VLAN config |
Manual port configuration |
----------------- |
This controls the behaviour of the actual physical LAN ports of the Managed CPE device and is templated as follows: BTnet Express (up to 35Mbps) services have equipment with 4 LAN ports. 3 ports are configured as trunks, 1 configured as access. BTnet 100Mbps circuits come with equipment that has 10 LAN ports. with 8 configured as trunks, 2 being configured as access. Note that 2 of the 8 trunk ports are Power Over Ethernet (PoE) ports and so cannot be changed. BTnet 500Mbps and 1Gbps circuits have equipment with 24 LAN ports, 20 as trunks, 4 as access Please see the BTnet Service Description for further specs relating to the ports and CPE devices. Available on request. |
Client Addressing |
|
Run DHCP Server |
If you wish to turn off the DHCP server (used for simple LAN setup, easy assignment of internal IP addresses and plug-and-play connectivity) then you will need to provide BT with additional VLAN information and configuration details. |
DNS nameservers |

If you need to change to anything else you can do so |
Reserved IP ranges |
Manual configuration |
----------------- |
add reserved IP ranges on request |
Fixed IP assignments |
Manual configuration |
----------------- |
add fixed IP ranges on request |
Port forwarding |
Manual configuration |
----------------- |
Rules can be added on request if you need. Allows port forwarding to specific devices or applications on your LAN. This feature can forward different ports to different internal IP addresses, allowing multiple servers to be accessible from the same public IP address. |
1:1 NAT |
Manual configuration |
----------------- |
1:1 NAT is for users with multiple public IP addresses available for use and for networks with multiple servers behind a firewall such as two web servers and two mail servers. A 1:1 NAT mapping can only be configured with IP addresses that do not belong to the Managed CPE device itself. It can also translate public IP addresses in different subnets than the WAN interface address if the ISP routes traffic for the subnet towards the MX interface. Each translation added is a one to one rule, which means traffic destined to the public IP address can only go to one internal IP address. Within each translation, a user can specify which ports will be forwarded to the internal IP. |
1:Many NAT |
Manual configuration |
----------------- |
A 1:Many NAT configuration allows the managed CPE device to forward traffic from a configured public IP to internal servers. It allows a single public IP to translate to multiple internal IPs, on different ports. For each 1:Many IP definition, a single public IP must be specified, then multiple port forwarding rules can be configured to forward traffic to different devices on the LAN on a per-port basis. |
The available configuration options are subject to change and will be updated here where applicable. Please see www.bt.com/terms for the BTnet Security service schedule and Terms and Conditions.
