Achieving information manoeuvre at DSEI 2017

Richard Hall, BT’s Director of Defence Sector, offers an exclusive sneak preview into the innovative solutions BT will be showcasing at DSEI 2017.

Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) is THE place to discover the latest defence technologies. Here’s what we’re bringing to the show.

Taking place between 12 and 15 September 2017, DSEI brings together the entire defence and security industry. It’s a showcase of the newest, most innovative equipment and systems, and acts as a fantastic networking event for developing international relationships and business opportunities.

So it goes without saying that we’ll be there, demonstrating BT’s own areas of expertise — IT, networks and cyber security.

Information manoeuvre

Information manoeuvre relies on the need for free-flowing information between the human, physical and information landscapes to deliver tactical effect and achieve desired strategic outcomes.

Advantage in information manoeuvre may be achieved by creating infrastructure, empowering your people, joining up your data, and securing everything a little more holistically than your adversary. And to do that, you need the right partners, with the right solutions.

The team and I will be showcasing those very solutions at this year’s DSEI. So, here’s a taste of the innovative ideas you can look forward to seeing, if you’re there.

Our showcase

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) – the future of network security

Secure your data, and detect anyone trying to listen in on your network. QKD works by delivering secret keys over fibre-optic cable, using the smallest possible packets of light. It allows eavesdroppers to be easily detected because any attempt to monitor the data being transferred will disturb the photons sending the keys, and introduce errors to their encoding.

Cyber defence – the latest in cyber security technology

As a business with a global reach, we’re on the front line of cyber defence. At DSEI we’ll explain how advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can help protect sensitive information and critical infrastructure.

EE mobile connectivity – connect anywhere

Although we’re working on developing innovations around the advent of the 5G network, there’s still much to be achieved with 4G. Find out more about how we’re extending the reach of the 4G network to ever more inaccessible and remote areas by using small aerial cells attached to tethered balloons or drones.

BT One Collaborate Spark – cloud-powered collaboration

Bringing together the collaboration tools offered by Cisco Spark with our voice services, our new business collaboration service allows teams to work together more intuitively and productively, regardless of location and the device used.
