We’re already helping organisations like yours across Scotland
Scotland is famous for its beautiful, rugged terrain. But getting everyone the best connection is tough when we can’t move mountains. So, we’ve been investing in new technology.
The right technology can help you meet the challenges you’re facing, deliver better services and save money. And we want to help you every step of the way.
We provide Scotland’s only national communications network. It stretches from the most remote islands to the rural lowlands. And we’ve partnered with the Scottish government to build an unrivalled digital infrastructure across the country – the highest value network of its kind in Europe.
More than two million Scots can connect to our fibre broadband network. And businesses can get speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second.
BT at the heart of transforming policing across Scotland
Police Scotland have recently launched mobile services to officers across Scotland for the first time. BT are delivering this solution, via our EE mobile network and working with key partners including Samsung, Motorola and Blackberry.
The use of mobile devices and applications is revolutionising the way the Police Scotland workforce is accessing its own systems. Officers and staff who receive a device will no longer have to rely on multiple sources or travel to police stations to access most information.
Key information and access to policing systems is now available on officers’ devices, allowing them to consume it in a secure and digital format. As a result, officers spend more time on community-based policing and crime prevention, to keep people safe across Scotland.
“One colleague with 29 years’ of police service, said to us that it’s the best bit of kit he’s ever been supplied with.” Superintendent Stevie Dolan, Police Scotland.

Agile patient care for the UK's largest health board
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the UK's largest health board. Comprising over 700 GPs, 35 hospitals and more than 50 health centres and clinics, they care for over 1.2 million people. They needed a solution that would still work with legacy systems. And it had to be flexible enough to add or remove users, as required.
The board wanted cost-effective mobile services on the fastest mobile network in the region. Ours. With remote workers across the area, helping them collaborate was key. So they needed a system that let teams work together from anywhere using apps and devices.
We built a tailored platform to help them work smarter, while still using their older systems. With the project completed on time and on budget, the teams got the tools they needed to provide the best health and social care to their citizens.
"We considered BT to be the only partner that could deliver the low risk, seamless migration we demanded. Its experience and attention to detail was instrumental in the smooth delivery of a very high-profile project."
Karen McSweeney
Telecommunications general manager for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde
