BT Local Business: Converged Communications Ltd
Your local communications team in Middlesbrough, backed by BT
Converged Communications Ltd
Matt Holmes and Steve McQueen set up Converged Communications Ltd in 2007. Originally, the company was the BT Local Business partner for Newcastle but they proved so successful that in 2013, they expanded to take over Middlesbrough, too. They now cover all of the North East.
Matt and Steve both have backgrounds in IT. Matt was an IT consultant while Steve learnt the telecoms ropes in BT Business.
‘We’re both passionate about technology’, said Matt. ‘And we’re really pleased to be able to introduce technology to businesses in the North East to help improve the way they work’.
The team, comprising specialists in broadband, mobile, data, phone systems, SIP, and networking, operates from a modern office in the centre of the region in Gateshead. They’re close to the Metro Centre and the Team Valley, with excellent transport links and easy access to the A1.
‘The office has a fantastic customer demo suite so customers can come in and see how developments in technology can help them improve their business’, said Steve.

Businesses we've helped
Shotton Hall Academy was suffering from an unreliable internet connection that affected their day-to-day operations, and their students’ ability to learn effectively.
They wanted a fast, stable, and reliable connection. We recommended a BTnet Leased Line, which is not only a robust way of getting on the internet, but also comes with a set of rigorous SLAs. We worked out what was best for the Academy now, and for their likely future requirements: BTnet Leased Line, Mitel MiVoice phone system, 20 SIP trunks, and 25 mobiles.
Now, with a strong internet connection with a solid, fast speed and no dropouts, the Academy is able to roll out BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) so the students can learn with their own devices. And because the Mitel is fully integrated with wi-fi, students and staff alike can get online wherever they are on the campus.
