HeadRED has designed over 600 web sites in just six years and BT Business Broadband Advanced is the backbone of its business. Designing web concepts and Internet solutions for organisations ranging from government departments to corporate clients and charities, HeadRED caters for web projects of any size and scale – plus offers hosting as well as online and off-line marketing.

Today, HeadRED hosts in excess of 1,000 websites – making data backup absolutely critical to the business. Until recently, it had to hand deliver all its backup files to its offsite data centre in London because it lacked the bandwidth capacity to send gigabytes worth of data over the web. Signing up to the new broadband service has made a noticeable difference to the time and money it spends weekly on managing and protecting its data.

As well as offering equally fast speeds for uploading as well as downloading information, BT Business Broadband Advanced uses a contention ratio of just 10:1. This means that the service is faster and ultra-reliable during long periods of very high network demand: perfect for a heavyweight broadband business like HeadRED.

Liam McGurk is the company’s managing director: “Business Broadband Advanced has provided our company with valuable time savings. In the past, we’ve spent up to one day a week travelling from Coventry to London to ensure all our data is backed up. Now we can remotely send all the files we need, on a daily basis, to the data centre in London and know they are secure.”

Not only has this had a positive impact on data backup, it has also improved the service HeadRED can offer clients. Large files containing graphics and software can easily be sent to clients or to the web server in much less time – and its task-based learning tool runs much more effectively.

Adds McGurk: “It has also provided us with much faster integration of HeadRED’s web applications into clients’ web sites. This means the applications can keep pace with the speed of clients’ sites, so the audience has a seamless experience online.”
