FAQs

  • Is it difficult to install broadband from BT Business?
    Not at all. If you’re a new customer we’ll send you a brand new hub; it comes with simple instructions so you shouldn’t have any problems. If you’re an existing customer and you’re upgrading your broadband package you don’t need to do a thing – stick with your existing hub, and we’ll take care of the rest.
    How do I upgrade my existing BT Business plan?
    You can upgrade the level, or type (broadband or fibre), of broadband you have online at any time. When you upgrade you’ll start a new contract that will run for 12 or 24 months (depending what you choose) from when you upgrade.
  • How quickly will I be back up and running if something goes wrong?
    Keeping your business online is our top priority. Our broadband is the most reliable around – 99.9% reliable in fact! If something does go wrong, you can report and track a fault online, 24/7. If you’re a BT Broadband customer and you let us know there’s a problem before 6pm we’ll aim to get it fixed for you within the next two working days. If you’re a BT Broadband Unlimited or BT Broadband Premium customer and you let us know there’s a problem by 6pm, we’ll aim to have it fixed by the end of the next working day. If we don’t, you may be eligible to claim £25 back on your next bill.
    How will you help me keep track of how much data I’m using?
    Only our BT Broadband option has a cap on data – 10 GB per month. When you’re getting close to using 80% of your data we’ll send you an email letting you know. You can also see how much data you’ve used by logging into your account online. If you’re going to be on the internet most of the time and think you might regularly use a lot of data for things like cloud-based apps and software, or sending and receiving large files, you might be better off going for BT Broadband Unlimited or BT Broadband Premium. These both come with unlimited data so you won’t need to worry about going over your limit.

Terms and conditions apply. £5 off monthly rental charge applies for the Minimum Period and is only available on new orders for BT Business Infinity, BT Business Infinity Unlimited and BT Business Infinity Premium with a 24 month Minimum Period. At the end of the Minimum Period the charges will revert to the standard rental charges applicable at that time. Re-grade orders are not included. Will I need a new router?

You’ll need a router to get up and running, but don’t worry. If you’re a new customer you’ll receive either our Hub 3 or Hub 5 – depending on whether you’re going for broadband or superfast fibre broadband.

If you’re an existing broadband customer and you’ve upgraded to superfast fibre broadband, we’ll send you out a brand new Hub 5.

If you’re an existing broadband or superfast broadband customer and you want to change your monthly subscription, but not the type of broadband (broadband or superfast broadband) you’re using, then you can carry on using the hub you already have. This saves you the hassle of installing a new one.

Why do we have different prices?

Our costs vary from place to place so depending on where your business is, you may see higher, or lower, prices.

Support

All of our Unlimited and Premium subscriptions come with Prompt Care service as standard.

This means that in the unlikely event that you have a problem, if you report it before 6pm we’ll aim to fix it by the end of the next working day, Monday to Saturday.

If we're late in fixing the fault, you may be eligible to claim £25 off your next bill through our Customer Service Compensation Scheme.

Here’s the detail:

We aim to fix faults reported Monday to Saturday by 23.59 on the next working day.

The broadband Customer Service Compensation Scheme covers BT Business Broadband Unlimited, BT Business Broadband Premium, BT Business Infinity Unlimited and BT Business Infinity Unlimited.

  • You must have reported the fault to us (and have a fault reference number).
  • Make sure you claim within 90 days of us fixing the fault.
  • If your claim is successful, we’ll credit your next bill with £25.
  • Check the full details of the scheme if you want to know more (and to read about the exclusions to it).

If you choose one of our plans with a data allowance: BT Business Broadband or BT Business Infinity, and you let us know there's a problem before 6pm, we'll aim to get it fixed within two working days.

Engineer appointments

Engineer appointments are between 8am and 1pm, and between 1pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday. We don’t make appointments for bank holidays.

The engineer will arrive to start the work during these times. They may not finish the work until after the end of the time slot.

The engineer will install your superfast broadband and will connect one computer to the network.

Microsoft Office 365 Small Business license included as standard with Broadband Premium, Infinity Unlimited and Infinity Premium subscriptions

BT Business Broadband Premium, BT Business Infinity Unlimited, BT Business Infinity Premium all include one user license for Microsoft Office 365 Small Business. Read more about it here. This gives you access to Professional Office applications so you can create and access documents and business-class email securely anytime, anywhere - on any device.

Because Office 365 is run from the cloud you won’t need to worry about updating to a new version - ever. All that is taken care of, so you’ll know you’re always using the most up to date versions of programs like Word and Excel.

You can easily upgrade to Microsoft Office 365 Small Business Premium if you want to. You’ll only pay an extra £4 each month. You can add more licenses for either Microsoft Office 365 Small Business or Microsoft Office Small Business Premium if you need to.

You’ll need a domain name to get going with Microsoft Office 365. This can be the domain name you’ve already got, or we can sort one out for you.

Extra IT support with Tech Heads with Premium products

You’ll get BT Tech Heads included as standard with BT Business Broadband Premium and BT Business Infinity Premium, giving you technical support on a wide range of IT issues for up to 3 computers. This is on top of the Prompt Care you’ll receive for any broadband faults.

We can help you with a whole range of broadband and IT questions and issues. And when things get tricky, we can securely takeover your computer to sort out problems and show you what to do.
