To help with the change to a different dialling code, you can take advantage of a special offer from BT.

If you decide to move to a new number, it's probably best to introduce the new number as soon as possible and run it in parallel with the 0870 number it replaces. This should make it easier for you to change your advertising, stationery, and so on, and enable your customers to get used to the new number.

If you enter into a new BT contract for an 0800, 0808, 0844, 0871 or 090x number without a break in service, you will:

  • pay no rental for the new number until you cease to operate the 0870 number or until 30 April 2008 - whichever is earlier

  • from the date that Ofcom specify, pay call charges for the 0870 number
